118 Elliot and Sparkles present “The Path of Typhoons,” performed by The Turbulence Orchestra & sub-units at 118 Elliot, on Saturday, March 21, at 7 pm. The Turbulence Orchestra is a large format improvisation ensemble of six or more horn players and a rhythm section. The unit is modular and has different performers drawn from a large roster at different performances. This will be the fifth performance by this project at 118 Elliot and will again present an orchestra of more than 20 experienced improvisers drawn from the Boston and Brattleboro/western Mass scenes. For this performance there will be four 15-minute improvisations, each with a quarter of the total ensemble, after which there will be a short break, followed by an hourlong directed improvisation with all the musicians.
