The state paid the estate of John Grega $1.55 million in a settlement over the state’s botched prosecution of Grega for the 1994 murder of his wife at a Dover condominium. Grega’s conviction was overturned after he served 18 years in prison on the conviction when new DNA testing indicated the presence of another man’s DNA in the victim’s body. Grega filed the lawsuit in 2014. He was killed in an automobile crash in 2015.
