AIDS walk scheduled to take place this weekend

Walkers participate in the AIDS Walk for Life several years ago.

The AIDS Project of Southern Vermont (APSVT) will host the 39th annual Ron and Shirley Squires AIDS Walk on Saturday, May 23, from 10 am to 12 pm, at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main Street.

This year’s walk will honor Sue Conley’s commitment to HIV/AIDS advocacy, harm reduction, and community education. APSVT also recognizes Shirley Squires, who has supported AIDS services since 1993 in memory of her son, Ron.

HIV remains a public health issue locally and nationally. For nearly 40 years, APSVT has provided HIV testing, prevention, and support services throughout southern Vermont.

Community members can support the event by becoming sponsors, making donations, forming or joining a team or helping spread the word. For more information on how to participate go to https://www.aidsprojectsouthernvermont.org/. Donations can be mailed to APSVT, PO Box 1486, Brattleboro, VT, 05302.
