Pollinator talk and garden visit this Saturday in Halifax

The topic of the Saturday, August 15 program at the Halifax Community Hall, 20 Brook Road, is pollinators. The program begins at 11 am with a presentation about the Monarch Butterfly, which the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources has designated as an endangered species.
Andrea Rand will discuss the life cycle of this butterfly and the environmental factors that are causing severe population declines. The talk will be followed by a discussion about pollinator gardens by Halifax’s Francisco Cabas.
The program will continue at Linda Heubner’s “Pollinator Paradise” garden, which is an ongoing project with plants and labor provided by Linda and others. The garden tour will be about a half-mile north of the hall.
The pollinator program will coincide with the weekly Halifax Café, open from 10 am until 1 pm, offering tea, coffee, baked goods, and lunch.
All are welcome at the Halifax Community Hall; the hall is wheelchair-accessible, including an accessible bathroom. The café events are supported by donations and volunteers. The Hall has WiFi.
