Wilmington Trails Committee says thanks

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Wilmington Trail Committee, I would like to thank everyone who joined us for the grand reopening and ribbon cutting celebration for the newly reconstructed portion of the Hoot, Toot & Whistle Trail.
This milestone has taken many years to achieve, reflecting the dedication of countless volunteers, advocates, planners, partners, and supporters who care deeply about our community. Many individuals helped lay the foundation for this project long before our current committee; while we cannot name everyone individually, we are sincerely grateful to all who contributed their time, effort, and support.
This project represents more than trail improvements. It’s a shared vision for creating a welcoming, accessible outdoor space where people of all ages and abilities can safely enjoy nature, recreation, and community connection. While funding limitations limited our ability to make the trail fully ADA accessible, accessibility remains an important priority moving forward. The trail also helps strengthen the connection between outdoor recreation and our downtown businesses, supporting the recreation economy that is vital to Vermont communities.
We extend our sincere thanks to our many partners, donors, volunteers, and property owners who helped make this project possible, particularly funding from VOREC, Great River Hydro, and the Wilmington Fund.
Although this phase is complete, we plan additional work on the Hoot, Toot & Whistle Trail. We are actively fundraising for the final phase and welcome community support at wilmingtontrails.org.
Most importantly, we invite everyone to come enjoy the trail.
