Halifax raises highway staff wages to reflect cost-of-living increases
Selectboard also increases hourly wage for one administrative employee
HALIFAX—The selectboard voted to raise wages for town highway staff during a special meeting last week, based on an updated Social Security cost-of-living (COLA) percentage. The board also voted to increase the hourly rate for one administrative employee.
The board approved a 3.4% COLA increase for the highway staff, effective September 27, for fiscal year 2027, which began on July 1. This amount replaces the 2.8% the board had rolled over from the fiscal 2026 budget.
