Steel’s photographs on display this February at Bartleby’s

Bartley’s Books, 17 West Main Street, will host its annual February show of Deerfield Valley photographer Nicki Steel, starting Sunday, February 1. This year’s show is entitled “Connections.” Steel’s time photographing local landscapes, nature, and wildlife has created a connection to the outside world and Vermont’s unique landscape. Steel also has a gift for finding examples of quirky and beautiful hearts out in the world. The “Hearts in Nature” series of cards and enlargements offered for sale will help people share an appreciation of nature with someone they love. The show at Bartleby’s will highlight enlargements on metal and canvas as well as traditional paper prints, individual cards, box sets of smaller cards, and a new line of postcards featuring both Vermont landscapes and wild and farm animals.
On Saturday, February 7, from 2 to 4 pm, Steel will give out stamped postcards from the new collection. Participants will be asked to, on the spot, address and write a postcard to someone special: a favorite aunt or former classmate, a treasured neighbor or beloved child. The cards will be collected and mailed that day. Packs of 12 cards will also be available at a special price to continue a connection with others.
Bartleby’s Books has been the area’s independent bookstore since 1989 and is located in the heart of downtown Wilmington.
