Colin Owyang appointed superior court judge
MONTPELIER—Gov. Phil Scott announced the appointment of Colin Owyang as superior court judge.
Owyang’s professional experience includes serving as Massachusetts Attorney General (now governor) Maura Healey’s first deputy attorney general and as assistant US attorney in Boston, prosecuting Boston mobster Stephen Flemmi and Al-Qaeda terrorist Richard Reid.
Owyang has also served as assistant US attorney in Burlington; special assistant US attorney in Washington, DC; and as trial attorney with the US Department of Justice’s environmental crimes section in Washington, DC. Owyang’s legal career began at a large Boston law firm, after clerking for three federal judges.
Owyang earned his BA and MA from Yale University, before earning his JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he graduated cum laude.
