19th annual Brattleboro winter farmers market will return this weekend

BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Winter Farmers Market opens on Saturday, November 1, for its 19th season, in the Croker Hall gymnasium on the Winston Prouty Campus.
The winter market begins directly after the last outdoor market in October. This is the only weekly indoor farmers market in the region open every Saturday, from November through March, from 10 am to 2 pm. Visitors will find plenty of farms with local produce, meat, cheese, and much more, including fresh greens weekly.
The impact of direct farmer-to-consumer transactions at a market is greater than it might appear. Markets serve as community anchors, positively influencing community health and wealth, resulting in more viable regional economies, increased access to fresh, nutritious food, and stronger social networks that help keep communities healthy. Unlike supermarkets, farmers markets put fruits and vegetables front and center and create a shopping environment where nutritious foods are made affordable and feed both the community and the local economy.
The winter farmers market welcomes SNAP/EBT shoppers, and also processes credit and debit cards.  Information about the SNAP program is expected; if the program continues working as it should, SNAP customers can match up to $20 each week with $20 in Crop Cash Coupons, and an additional $20 in Crop Cash Plus through December.
