MOOver co-founder, CEO to retire in 2026

Randy Schoonmaker
WILMINGTON - The Southeastern Vermont Transit (SEVT) board of directors announces that Christine Howe, current general manager, will become CEO effective July 1, 2026, following the retirement of current CEO Randy Schoonmaker.
Howe started at The MOOver on March 3, 2017 as Wilmington’s general manager, and became SEVT general manager on July 10, 2020. She is a graduate of Newbury College, the University of New Haven, and the Community Transportation Association of America Emerging Leaders Academy. Howe has extensive hospitality and administrative experience as the former co-owner of the Doveberry Inn and at Lyndon Institute, respectively. She serves on numerous regional and statewide public transit committees and is a certified transit manager.
Schoonmaker was one of four founders of the MOOver in 1996 and has been general manager or CEO since November 15, 1998.
SEVT needs to find a new general manager and will begin the search immediately. The position will be posted internally as part of a local and regional search. It is hoped that there will be five months or so for Howe to train a replacement, and a month’s time for Schoonmaker to train Howe for CEO responsibilities. There are no other structural changes planned at this time.
SEVT has grown to almost 100 employees, 66 in-service vehicles, 500,000 annual rides, and 3,000,000 miles driven annually, excluding volunteers.
The board is confident of the transition and thanks Schoonmaker for many years of service.
The MOOver’s website is www.moover.com and is on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
