St. Mary’s Church will host weekly luncheon
WILMINGTON—Recently, a number of local people came together to discuss food insecurity among local residents in the community as well as the lack of community socializing for many.
An idea that found traction was to provide a community luncheon once per week, on Wednesdays. St. Mary’s Church will host the luncheons. The first will be held on December 3, from noon to 2 pm, and will be provided by members of St. Mary’s. There will be “grab-n-go” or eat-in options. Bone Builders will provide the luncheon on December 10.
Luncheon meals will vary from homemade soups to sandwiches. Community organizations will have the opportunity to offer presentations for those who eat in. Luncheons will be free, but donations will be accepted. If the first two luncheons attract enough people from our community, consideration to continue will be addressed.
