Upcoming events at Brooks Memorial Library include volunteer tax help and more
Brooks Memorial Library, 224 Main Street, announces its upcoming events and programs.
SEVCA’s volunteer tax prep assistance program will be offered on Wednesday, February 4, from 12:30 to 6:30 pm. The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. This service is available by appointment only. Also on February 4, from 6 to 8 pm, the Center for Solace presents “Holding our Own,” a one-hour film that features the work of local artist Deidre Scherer and the music of Center for Solace chorus Hallowell. It will be followed by a discussion about the power of the arts to help offer solace in difficult times.
On Saturday, February 7, from 10:30 am to 12 pm, and on the first Saturday of the month through June, the Brattleboro legislative delegation will be available to meet the public and discuss areas of concern and interest. Topics will include health care, education, climate change, and housing. All are welcome to join the conversation, hear from experts, and share personal experiences.
