Clough leaving museum after 14 years of service

Michael Clough

The board of directors of the Vermont Museum of Natural History and Pool Nature Center have announced that executive director Michael Clough will be leaving the organization by early summer. After serving in a variety of capacities, most notably as the organization’s primary educator for 14 years, Clough will be moving on to pursue other interests and to be closer to his teenage daughters.

This marks another opportunity for growth and development as the organization’s Pool Nature Center grows in capacity and a new education policy takes hold. Anna Caputo, the current director of education, is excited to work more closely with area schools, libraries, and other community groups to bring a more structured approach to the organization’s offerings. Volunteers and animal care staff are looking forward to expanded open hours at the nature center this spring and the opportunity to share the resources of the site and their non-releasable live animals with the public.

Meanwhile the board will take this opportunity for some internal restructuring and are enlisting the aid of community members and professional consultants to help map a path forward that will benefit not only the organization but also the community at large.

The Pool Nature Center is located on Adams Crossroad and is currently open for public hours and programs on weekends or by appointment. Visit www.vermontmuseum.org for more information.
