Stroll Back in Time Memorial Day weekend
With the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, Stroll Back in Time during the first village stroll of the season over Memorial Day Weekend. This event will take place on Saturday, May 23, from 4 to 6 pm, and will highlight Wilmington’s rich history and early American traditions.
Memorial Hall will be open for portrait viewing and will be the starting line for a historical scavenger hunt through significant landmarks in Wilmington’s past. Upon completion, participants will receive a commemorative coin and be entered into a prize drawing.
There will be various activities that are nostalgic to 1776. Historical crafts will be offered on the library lawn, and traditional outdoor games – similar to those enjoyed by children 250 years ago - will take place on the Crafts Inn lawn.
Community members and visitors of all ages are encouraged to attend and take part in the celebration. This will be the first of two historic strolls happening in downtown Wilmington; the second stroll will take place on Saturday, June 20, from 4 to 6 pm.
