Selectboard raises tempers in heated health insurance discussion

DOVER- Selectboard members squabbled over employee health insurance at their regular meeting Tuesday evening.
A heated discussion followed office manager Jeannette Eckert’s announcement that the town’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont health insurance premium costs would rise by just 4.5% next year, adding about $21,000 to the town budget.  Last year, the town was facing a rate increase of more than 23%, adding about $84,000 in additional cost to the budget. Eckert said she had been expecting an increase this year of about 9%.
