WILMINGTON — Twin Valley Elementary student Giovanni Linnehan learned about Colossal’s Youth Athlete of the Year Competition, a nationwide campaign raising funds and awareness for cancer research, in classic fifth grade fashion — his mom told him about it. 
Linnehan, who was introduced to taekwondo by parents and master-level black belts Jeanette and Michael Linnehan at 3 years old, said he submitted qualifying materials for the seasonal competition because of his connection to the cause.
