Valley shrugs at snowstorm that paralyzed many areas of country

DEERFIELD VALLEY—A monster storm traumatized a wide area of the United States with heavy snows and frigid temperatures, but was it a big one by southern Vermont standards? Not so much.
In the Wilmington area, about 14 inches of snow accumulated between Sunday morning and Monday evening but didn’t match the heaviest falls of recent years. Local roads stayed mostly open, and the dry, fluffy snow made it easier for crews to plow than if had been wet, heavy snow. The air temperature fell as low as -6 degrees in Wilmington during the storm.
