Wilmington bridge repair may not last until removal, highway chief says

WILMINGTON—The current repair of Bridge 31 in Wilmington Village may not last until the bridge’s scheduled replacement in 2029, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it needing more repairs before then, the town’s highway superintendent said on Monday.
Marshall Dix said he does not expect the repair of the Route 9 bridge over the North Branch of the Deerfield River to keep it structurally sound until 2029, and predicted that more repairs will be needed before the almost-century-old bridge can be removed altogether.
