RUTLAND - The Rt. Rev. Thomas Clark Ely, tenth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, died surrounded by family on August 30. He was 73.
Born in Norwalk, CT, on December 14, 1951, Tom was the son of Leonard and Shirley (Parker) Ely. He graduated from Norwalk High School and Western Connecticut State University before earning a Master of Divinity from The University of the South School of Theology.
Ordained in 1980, he served in Connecticut as a parish minister, diocesan director of youth ministries, and Executive Director of Camp Washington.
