Basketball camps set to begin in late June

The 30th annual Deerfield Valley basketball camp, for boys and girls entering grades five through nine, will run from Monday, June 22, to Friday, June 26, from 1 to 4 pm, at Twin Valley Middle High School (TVMHS), 4299 Route 100. Camp director is Buddy Hayford.

The daily schedule includes teaching skills such as ball handling, shooting, dribbling, defending, passing, screening, and rebounding, all taught in a variety of situations. The camp utilizes stations, contests, league play, one-on-one and three-on-three competitions, as well as the NOAH shooting program, which is used by high school, NCAA, and NBA teams. In addition, campers at TVMHS will have the opportunity to use the newly acquired Dr. Dish for intensive shooting practice. For more information call (802) 779-5904.

The same week, June 22 to 26, the ninth annual Wildcat Cub basketball camp will be held at the Old School Community Center, 1 School Street, Wilmington. Boys and girls entering preschool through first grade will play from 8:30 to 9:30 am, while those entering second through fourth grades will play from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. These sessions are an introduction to the basic skills necessary to advance as a prospective player. The camp director is Chris Brown, with high school players as camp staff.
