Readsboro Independence Day festivities announced
The Readsboro Independence Day Committee invites the family and friends of Readsboro to be part of this year’s parade by participating in the parade float competition on Saturday, June 27. The parade will start at 11 am on Phelps Lane and travel along Main Street, ending at the Readsboro General Store. Three cash prizes will be awarded – $125, $100 and $75. Floats will be judged on creativity and handmade qualities. All floats should be neatly assembled and decorated. Candy can be thrown carefully from each float. Children (walking or riding) must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be a silent auction table at the Lions Park. The committee is seeking donations of gift certificates, gift baskets, paintings, crafted items, jewelry, handmade items, decorative pieces, new gifts, electronic products, bird feeders, pet items, and children’s items. Please stop at the pavilion and place a bid on one or more of the items.
There is also a 50/50 cash raffle. There are 150 books of tickets; price is $1 per ticket or six for $5. To purchase by mail, send checks to the Fourth of July committee, 27 Grinka Farm Drive, Readsboro, VT, 05350. The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, June 27, at 9 pm, with the winner receiving 50% of the total ticket sales and the balance benefiting the 2027 July 4th celebration.
The Lions Club will be preparing and serving a chicken BBQ dinner at Lions Park that day. Tickets are $18. Chicken dinners can be picked up between 1 and 2 pm at the Lions Park.
After the parade, the community is invited to Lions Park for children’s events, the horseshoe tournament, the silent auction, live music from the Boyd Family Band, and more.
