Unique opportunity for Vermont students grades 9-11

I would like to make local high school students and their parents aware of a unique opportunity open to Vermont students who are currently enrolled in grades nine, 10, or 11. It’s called the Governor’s Institutes of Vermont (GIV).
This summer GIV will offer eight one- or two-week institutes on five different Vermont college campuses. Institute programs include: the arts, engineering, entrepreneurship, global issues and youth action, health and medicine, mathematical sciences, technology and design, and weather and climate science. These institutes are not like the traditional summer school.
GIV’s website states, “Each Institute offers a unique, collaborative and hands-on experience bursting with creative learning and boundless fun!” During my years in education I attended several institutes as a guest, a supporter or GIV board member. I was always impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the students and their teachers. I would encourage local high school students interested in any of these programs to apply. Applicants don’t need to be experienced or accomplished in a particular institute topic. What matters most is having a desire to learn and to meet new friends with similar interests GIV has a generous scholarship fund with sliding scale tuition starting as low as $10. Applications are now open and close in late March.
