The Vermont Legislature opened its 2024 session this week, and early indications are that much attention for the next five months will be focused on “resiliency.”
No doubt that word has different meanings to different people, but the bottom line is that the flooding many parts of the state suffered through in 2023 triggered a renewed look at how to make more parts of the state better able to survive large weather events. That was made a little more urgent due to the flooding that occurred in Montpelier, right on the doorstep of state government.
