Musical mashup at Wings
This weekend, the Wings Performing Arts Program will present “Opening Night,” a musical mashup of local history and steampunk foolery, with performances on Friday, July 3, at 6:30 pm; Saturday, July 4, at 6:30 pm; and Sunday, July 5, at 2 pm.
Starring a talented cast of local students, “Opening Night” pays homage to the history of MemorialHall’s dedication in 1902 by transporting its audience directly into the hall’s opening night, where an acting troupe of Wilmingtonians is staging a circus-themed spectacular called “The Greatest Show.”
Following the conclusion of “The Greatest Show,” which features music, acrobatics, and intrigue, audiences will witness a staging of actual speeches given at Memorial Hall’s dedication night in 1902, along with a brief audio-visual presentation celebrating the eras that have unfolded in the hall in the ensuing years.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children under age 5 are free. Tickets are available online at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/opening-night-the-greatest-show
