Chamber's beer and chili stroll is coming

Friendly volunteers serve up the tasting experience with a warm welcome.

The Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Vermont Craft Beer & Chili Stroll on Friday, March 27 from 4 to 7 pm. The event couples Vermont craft beers with delicious chili created by local chefs. Tasting stations will be located at Ratu’s Liquor & Market, Pickwell’s Barn, Mill & Whistle, The Village Roost, Memorial Hall, Alpenglow Bistro, The Vermont House, Incurable Romantic, and Bartleby’s Books, providing an opportunity to shop while tasting. Musical performances by Unqualified and Midnight Betty will add a soundtrack to the night.

The chili contest portion of the event challenges chefs throughout the Deerfield Valley to create delicious and crowd-pleasing chili creations. This year’s chili contestants include: 1 MTN, Alpenglow Bistro, Black Ember Grill, Farmhouse Market, Farm Road Estate/Saw Mill Bar & Table, La Casita, RVQ, Snow Republic Brewing Company, The Maple Leaf Tavern, The Village Roost, Tony’s Pizza, Trail 87, and more. Attendees will vote over the course of the evening and the winner will be announced on the chamber’s social media accounts.

The stroll will include beers from Vermont brewers, including IPA headliners like The Alchemist’s Focal Banger, Lawson’s new Hop Wired, and Foam’s Canvas. Four Quarters is bringing Space Face IPA, Upper Pass will feature Cloud Drop, and Burlington Beer Company will be providing Elaborate Metaphor.

Non-IPA drinkers will be able to choose from Black Flannel’s Marzen, Foam’s Tranquil Pilsner, 14th Star’s new Follow Me Pale Ale, Zero Gravity’s Green State Light Lager, and Von Trapp’s Vermont Adaptive Blonde.

For non-beer drinkers, there will be Woodchuck’s Pearseco as well as a selection from Stowe Cider and Switchback’s new Watermelon Mint Vodka ready-to-drink cocktail. Local beers include offerings from Valley Craft Ales and Snow Republic Brewing. Vermont Distillers will be pouring Metcalfe’s liquors.

Registration opens at 3 pm at the chamber visitor center. For more information or to puchase tickets go to visitvermont.com.
