Youth program thanks Mount Snow

To the Editor:
I want to publicly thank Vail Resorts, Inc. and Mount Snow Resort for their continued support of the Deerfield Valley Community Partnership’s Choose Snow Program.
Choose Snow is for students currently in grades 7-12. Students earn season passes by attending two of our virtual prevention education events (by nationally known presenters) with their parents. The presentations cover topics such as drug & alcohol prevention, mental health promotion, importance of limiting screen time and making healthy choices. A discussion between youth and their parents is required as part of the program to promote protective factors and decrease risk factors for unhealthy behaviors.
In addition to sponsoring these evening educational events, funding from Choose Snow provides programs and activities for all students in the Windham Southwest Supervisory Union including prevention education in the schools, staff training, and youth empowerment groups. This is an important element of the program as it benefits all of our youth, not only those that are able to participate in the pass program.
