WILMINGTON- Joseph “Jody” “Joe” Munn, 64, died on September 26, and is now following the cosmic vibrations he loved so much.
Mr. Munn was born in Bayonne, NJ. He was a graduate of St. Andrews Grammar School where he played drums in the renowned St. Andrews drum and bugle corp, and was a rock ‘n’ roll drummer in the Sweet Willie Jam Band with his best friend and now Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Clem Burke.
Mr. Munn was a graduate of Marist High School and attended Johnson State College, where he was an infamous late-night DJ on WJSC 90.7 FM, doing what he loved, which was turning people on to music, grooving to the cosmic vibrations, and sharing far-out stories from far-out experiences.
Vermont was his magical place that he loved to talk about, with creative beautiful homage, in unique descriptive ways. Those who knew Mr. Munn couldn’t help but be impressed by his genuine and genius one-of-a-kind personality. He worked locally as a chef in some of the fine eateries in the area, lastly at The Roadhouse.
In honor of Mr. Munn, here is the first verse of “Third Stone From The Sun” by Jimi Hendrix; “Oh strange beautiful grass of green with your magestic silken scenes, your mysterious mountains I wish to see closer, may I land my kinky machine.”
