Artist will discuss paintings, textiles at museum

BRATTLEBORO—Artist Jonathan Ryan Storm will lead a walking tour and discussion of his outdoor exhibition “Time Was a River, Too” at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) on Saturday, December 6, at 3 pm. The event begins outside the museum, where participants will view the large reproductions of Storm’s artwork installed in the museum’s window bays, followed by a discussion indoors. Admission is free. Walk-ins are welcome, and advance registration is not necessary. Learn more at brattleboromuseum.org or by calling (802) 257-0124, ext. 101.
Storm’s vibrant paintings and textiles feature winding, undulating compositions. Storm works intuitively, following through the flow state of painting or the mesmerizing motion of sewing.
As a person on the autism spectrum, Storm has a self-described “obsession” with rhythm, repetition, and automatic movements. The individual components appear to shift as viewers look on from different angles. Storm’s bold use of color and pattern has the effect of dimming thought and amplifying feeling and intuition.
“Time Was a River, Too” is on view outside the museum through April 26.
BMAC is open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is “pay as you wish.” For more information and accessibility requests go to brattleboromuseum.org, call (802) 257-0124 or email office@brattleboromuseum.org.
