Chimney sweepers earn certification for experience

WEST DOVER - Certified Chimney Professionals announces that Sarah and Roscoe Shippee, owners of Scott’s Clean Sweep, have earned the Certified Master Chimney Technician designation.
The CMCT course consists of having a minimum of eight years experience and six years of past comprehensive chimney sweeping certification testing. Besides having outstanding experience, CMCT candidates have received training in the following subjects: chimney inspections and inspection standards; science of fuels and combustion; sweeping, service, and installation of solid fuel-burning appliances; cleaning of chimneys for oil/gas boilers and furnace systems; as well as problems with the performance of chimneys and vents.
This in-depth program also includes the candidate’s study and knowledge of NFPA 211 - the National Fire Protection Association standard for chimneys, fireplaces, vents, and solid fuel-burning appliances, 2019 edition.
All candidates for the CMCT designation also agree to abide by a professional code of ethics.
