Retreat announces 5K to support suicide awareness, patient care

The Brattleboro Retreat invites the community to take part in its inaugural Move Forward Together 5K for Suicide Awareness, on Saturday, September 12. The timed walk/run will begin at 9 am and is dedicated to raising awareness, honoring lives touched by suicide, and connecting the community with vital mental health resources during Suicide Awareness Month.

Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States, making it more important than ever to increase awareness, encourage conversations about mental health, and connect people with support before a crisis occurs.

The Move Forward Together 5K for Suicide Awareness begins and ends at the Brattleboro Retreat and features a scenic out-and-back course along Route 30. Registration is $35. T-shirts will be available on race day, while supplies last.

Kids, families, and strollers are welcome, and children under 12 participate free of charge. For the safety and comfort of all participants, pets are not permitted, except for service animals.

Proceeds from the event will support enhancements to patient care and experience at the Brattleboro Retreat, including program development, staff training, patient financial assistance, and campus improvements.

Whether participants run, walk or cheer from the sidelines, every step helps create a space where everyone belongs and every step forward matters.
