Wilmington residents invited to review final draft of the town plan

Vermont law requires that every town within the state approve and put in place a town plan every eight years. The town plan is a compilation of long, medium, and short-term goals to assist the town and state in addressing land use, community growth, conservation of local resources, and other priorities identified by the town’s residents, government, and community organizations. Preparation of Wilmington’s town plan began last September with a planning commission survey of Wilmington residents, seeking input on Wilmington’s housing, commercial development, public services, and facilities. That survey was followed by a community meeting last year on November 1 at OSEC, where attendees were able to participate in round table discussions and provide input on the proposed town plan. Since then the planning commission has met twice a month in public meetings, revising and refining the draft plan. The commission is now preparing to submit a final draft of the town plan to the Wilmington Selectboard for its approval and adoption. Before we submit the final draft to the selectboard we would like to invite the public to review and provide any comments or thoughts it may have on this final draft. We hope that anyone interested in participating will join us at 6 pm on Tuesday, October 13, in the Wilmington Town Hall. The draft town plan can be viewed and downloaded from the town of Wilmington website.
