Mount Snow Ski Club scholarships available for young skiers in the valley

To the Editor:
The Board of the Mount Snow Ski Club would like to share information with the community regarding our Scholarship Fund, which is back for its second year following a successful inaugural year.
This initiative reflects MSSC’s interest in fostering a love for skiing and snowboarding in our community, and we hope to make the excitement, challenge, and camaraderie that comes along with being on the mountain even more accessible to children in the Valley. As we all know, the cost associated with these types of snow sports — gear, program fees, season passes, etc., can be a real barrier. This scholarship fund provides assistance to eliminate the financial burden and increase access.
The Mount Snow Ski Club has long been dedicated to supporting our ski and snowboard athletes. Founded in 1979, MSSC was started by a small group of families committed to helping athletes and competitors experience top-notch training while developing solid and relevant skills. While our organization and scope has grown since then, that fundamental objective remains an essential tenet of our mission, and we are thrilled to be able to share this with the greater community.
Through this effort, we aim to create exposure and open doors for more young athletes from the Deerfield Valley to develop their skills, confidence, and connection to skiing or snowboarding — values that have always been at the heart of our club’s mission.
Selections for participation will be made based on demonstrated need, as well as the completed application, including an athlete and parent statement. The deadline for submitting an application is Sunday, November 1, with determinations made no later than November 15.
Any child between the ages of 7 and 16 is welcome to apply. If chosen, recipients will receive:
- Seasonal gear rental (skis, ski boots, and poles or snowboard and snowboard boots)
- Program fees for a seasonal ski or ride program at Mount Snow
- New helmet and goggles
- Necessary base layers and/or outerwear
- Season pass to Mount Snow (if needed)
Interested families should email us at info@mountsnowskiclub.org, and we will send them all the details as well as the application.
