Laura Jane (Bartlett) Dunn

Laura Dunn
GOLD HILL, NC - Laura Jane (Bartlett) Dunn died early October 19, with her husband Mark at her side at their home. She fought a good fight, keeping a positive attitude as her health failed. Her strong faith carried her through.
Laura was born to Charles and Margret (Hurd) Mallory on April 28, 1943 in East Jamaica, VT. She was the oldest, with three younger brothers: Norman, Richard, and Lloyd. As a youngster she went to five different schools and graduated eighth grade in Putney, VT, then attended Brattleboro Union High School. At 38 she got her GED, and she went on to Greenfield Community College to further her studies in recreational leadership.
Laura married Allan R. Bartlett on March 25 1962, and they made their home in Whitingham, VT, for 53 years. They raised four children: Allen J. (Sandy), Cheryl Boyd (Rick), Betty Christie (Scott), and Diane Ryan ( Loren). She leaves 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edith Washburn and Mary Mallory; many nieces; nephews, and cousins galore. She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Richard; her husband, Allan; grandchildren William, Katrina, and Andy; and one great-grandson, Gunner.
In her younger years, she loved to ride horse, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. She enjoyed rides in the 1931 Model A coupe they restored when they got older. Her hobbies were many, but she was known for her cone crafting, a “gift of nature,” she’d say. She was also known for her decorating skills for weddings, receptions, just about any occasion or holiday. Their home was the place for many a Bartlett reunion and bluegrass weekends. Over the years you’d find her on many community committees and responsibilities, such as 15 years being our Joyful Jackies 4-H leader, a PTA member and president, home room mother for many years, and band parent president. Her involvement in the Jacksonville Community Church included being a member of the Ladies Aid, superintendent of Sunday school for six years, teaching grades five and up for eight years, and being director of VBS for two years. She loved teaching and working with kids.
She was rebaptized in 2010 and became a member of the Mt. View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Vernon, VT. She moved to a warmer climate in North Carolina in 2017, where she met her husband at the Salisbury Seventh-day Adventist church, where they were members. She was married on September 14, 2019, to Mark Dunn. She said “He made me feel brand new and loved.” Her family grew with three more daughters, more grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. Her new family made her feel right at home and was so good to her.
The family would like to thank all for all the prayers, messages, and notes sent to her; it meant a lot to her. Her celebration of life was held October 25, at the Salisbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and can be viewed on YouTube.
