Deer poaching remains a concern, must be reported

MONTPELIER - Vermont game wardens are appealing for help in curtailing poaching activities.  Anyone who witnesses or has knowledge of poaching is urged to contact a local game warden.
The quickest way to reach a warden is to call the nearest state police office; the radio dispatcher will transmit the information provided to a warden in the area.
Shots heard at night or lights visible in a field can be indicators of poaching actitivities and should be reported so an investigation can be performed.
Information such as vehicle descriptions, including plate numbers, direction of travel, and names are all useful and should be passed along.
Anyone in possession of information about illegal activity relating to Vermont’s wildlife can anonymously call Operation Game Thief at (800)75ALERT (752-5378).   Rewards are paid for information leading to arrests.
