Former Readsboro principal’s arrest part of a larger problem

To the Editor,
Last week, Wilmer Chavarria, superintendent of schools in Winooski, and former highly respected principal of Readsboro Central School, returned from visiting his mother in Nicaragua with his spouse.  Even though he is a naturalized US citizen, Wilmer was detained at the airport, separated from his spouse, interrogated, threatened, and humiliated for hours.  He was not given any reason for being detained, nor was he informed why his Global Entry Pass was revoked.
