Game warden says eaglet was from lake nest

WILMINGTON - Photographer Nicki Steel has been photographing bald eagle eaglets at the Mt. Mills picnic area since they were born this spring. In fact, she was tracking them before they were born.
“I saw the adults mate,” she says. “It was March 4, a perfect, beautiful, blue-sky winter day.” She was watching one of the eagles and getting her camera out when the other one arrived. “All of a sudden the other one comes in and hops on top. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
