The Deerfield Wind project, a plan to site 15 additional wind turbines in Readsboro and Searsburg, was tied up in court as three conservation organizations opposed to the siting of the turbines on National Forest land sought to halt the project. Their concerns included noise from the turbines as well as the impact of site blasting on groundwater, soil, and drinking water supplies. The project had already been approved by the US Forest Service, and the Vermont Public Service Board.
