The Readsboro Historical Society completed a project to place a 128-year-old schoolhouse bell on the grounds of the Readsboro Central School.  The 300-pound bell, cast by the National Bell Foundry in Cincinnati, OH,  had been in the bell tower of the village school since 1880, when the school house was built, until it was torn down in the early 1960s.  At that time, a group of citizens salvaged the bell and stored it in the village highway department building.
