Influencing conversations that matter, locally and globally

On Sunday, September 20, from 4 to 5 pm, at the Whittemore Theater, 2582 South Road, Marlboro Music introduces the series “In Conversation,” which brings acclaimed writers to campus for public conversations about the ideas that shape the community and the world. Authors, poets, historians, and essayists will explore questions through the lens of literature, history, memory, place, ethics, creativity, and civic life. Rather than traditional book talks or readings, each gathering is built around conversation—an opportunity to listen, ask questions, and consider multiple perspectives in the company of others.

Presented in collaboration with Vermont writer Robin Marie MacArthur and Word House, the first “In Conversation” series features historian and journalist Jill Lepore and poet Dan Chiasson. The event will begin with a short reading, followed by a moderated conversation, audience discussion, and a reception. Bartleby’s Books will have books available for sale before and after the event.
