This Holocaust monument in Kyiv, Ukraine, memorializes the horrific massacre at Babyn Yar in 1941, when nearly 34,000 Jews were killed in two days. The massacre was considered one of the largest mass killings in a single location during World War II. Just recently, Babyn Yar was the site of a Russian attack as part of its war of aggression on Ukraine, creating chilling historical parallels and worries of a war on memory.
