Blueberry Festival celebrated as ‘‘an important tradition’’

Annual event connects communities in Deerfield Valley
WILMINGTON—For 10 days each summer, blueberries are more than just a crop. They become the centerpiece of a valley-wide celebration that stretches from Jacksonville and Whitingham to Dover and Wilmington. Farms open their fields, restaurants serve blueberry-themed specials, local businesses decorate their storefronts, and community organizations fill the calendar with parades and pie eating contests.
