WOODFORD—A chemical truck incident that closed Route 9 between Bennington and Searsburg for more than two days last week highlighted the frequent transportation of hazardous materials along the southern Vermont artery, and raises questions about the vulnerability of communities along the route to leaks or spills of dangerous substances.
