Rec Commission thanks the community
To the Editor:
The Wilmington Recreation Commission is celebrating another successful year of middle school summer rec camp and summer swim lessons.
The commission’s mission is to offer and encourage multigenerational recreational opportunities that foster and facilitate personal, physical, and community health and wellbeing for residents of and visitors to the Wilmington area.
This year we benefited from wonderful collaborations with many local people and groups, as well as exciting adventures beyond the valley. We are thankful to the summer rec team: Jen Nilsen, Sara Moore, Aspen Willard, Yoly Reyes, Brayden Brown, Max Nido, Benny Gerding, Billie Mola, Angi Dornburgh, and the summer swim staff: Abby Kahn, Sean Vonranson, Maya Rosso, and Taylor Sprague.
We thank all those who shared their knowledge and energy with our campers and swimmers: Robert Merfield at Mount Snow, Ashley Porter, Scott Salway, Jerry Mosher, Angi Dornburgh, Lou Martin, Matt Carruthers of Livin-Roots, Monique Johnson, Laura Nelson at Pettee Memorial Library, and Jake Moore at the Brook Bound Inn.
Thanks also to the pickleballers, walkers, and Beaver Brook campers at OSEC for sharing their space with us, and to OSEC for their many community-making efforts and their longtime support in providing us a space for our program. Thank you to the VT Agency of Education and Step Into Swim for their financial support. Thanks as always to the Wilmington Town Office staff and the community at large for their ongoing support.
