Barbara “Bobbi” Irene Thomann

WILMINGTON - Barbara “Bobbi” Irene Thomann, 83, died at her home on Tuesday, December 2. She was born in Mountain Top, PA on February 4, 1942, the daughter of Chester and Irene Soltysiak. In her earlier years she was accepted into the School for the Performing Arts High School in New York City. She married Henry R. Thomann in November 1975.
Barbara was a very well-respected legal secretary on Madison Avenue in Manhattan for 30 years. She continued that profession upon moving to Wilmington in the '80s, working for numerous attorneys in the area. Barbara and Hank built their dream home, “the Golden Nugget,” at the top of Ray Hill, and just celebrated their 50th anniversary this past November.
Barbara’s personality would light up a room; people were naturally drawn to her. She loved to dance, laugh, and have a good time. She was a people person who had an infectious smile.
Barbara loved the beauty of nature, animals, birds, and flowers. She found great joy and delight in every bloom and bird that visited her yard. Her appreciation for the natural world was reflected in her warm spirit and gentle kindness toward all living things.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Henry R. Thomann, and a very near and dear friend, Patty Moore. She has joined her beloved German Shepherds that she and Hank had over the years: Tammy, Shep, Poe, The Hulkster, and Ghengis Kahn.
The family would like to thank Bayada Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and support throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to the Bayada Hospice Care Fund. For more information go to bayada.com.
At her request, there will be no formal services.
