A Window into Judaism: A lifeline of hope amid darkness

Frank Meisler “Kindertransport - The Arrival” is a 2006 bronze sculpture by artist Frank Meisler, located in Hope Square, London, commemorates the more than 10,000 Jewish children, including the artist, who arrived in England fleeing persecution in Nazi-occupied Europe.

Imagine putting your child on a train to a foreign country, sending them to live with strangers who speak a different language, and not knowing if you will ever see them again. Jewish parents faced this impossible choice in Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia in the 1930s.
In the five years leading up to November 1938, the Nazi persecution of Germany’s Jews was marked by humiliation, segregation, and exploitation. Many Jewish families clung to the hope that the madness would eventually end and that life might return to the way it had been before Hitler came to power.
