Janoo offers solutions

To the editor:

On YouTube lately, Republican ads hammer Amanda Janoo for “magical thinking.” But when you actually listen to her, you see that she’s just trying to propose helpful solutions to basic affordability problems like home heating, groceries, school budgets, and health care. That is not magical thinking. That is just thinking.

But the Governor and his communications and marketing people are clever; they actually have us engaged in magical thinking. We are convinced that we cannot afford these things. He reassures us that would shouldn’t expect solutions.

If you want to see some magic, take home heating, for example. For the last ten years, he has protected fossil fuel providers from helping Vermonters button up their homes. Vermont fuel dealers love that magic. Meanwhile, with the wave of a wand, our expectations for any improvements are tamped down.

If you are feeling suckered you can vote for a change. Give me a thinking Governor any day.
