Residents asked to complete local hazard mitigation survey

The hazard mitigation plan update is in process and looking for input from Wilmington residents to identify hazards that impact the community. There will be a meeting Wednesday, April 16, at 5 pm in the town hall meeting room, 2 East Main Street.  Light refreshments provided. This is an opportunity to help update the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP).
As mandated by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, all municipalities are required to complete a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan every five years in order to qualify for FEMA funding, should a disaster occur.  The plan identifies threats and hazards, then determines what mitigation efforts would aid in reducing risk and recovery from natural, technological, and human-caused hazards.
